Middle/High School Performing Arts Resident Camp
For Rising 6th thru Graduating 12th Graders
June 11-June 16, 2017 (Sunday 3pm thru Friday
Through professional training in acting, singing, and dancing, each camper will learn the skills you need to know to make it in this business. Leadership includes director Kevin Jones and his talented, professional team from KJPAS. We have been running highly successful acting and musical theater day and residential camps for the past 19 years. You will truly be amazed at the quality of the final showcase performance after just six days of camp! As a bonus, professional NYC quality headshots will be taken of each camper (which are literally worth more than the price of camp itself!).
Professional Theatrical Training and Workshops include: Acting for Film and Television (on-camera class); Audition Techniques (how to get cast); The Business of Acting (how to avoid scams); Improvisation and Theater Games (how to think fast on your feet); How to Survive a Dance-Call (if you are called back at an audition to dance); Vocal Projection (how to safely project your voice without damaging your vocal cords); Character Development (how to create a believable character); Theater Dance; Headshot/Resume/Bio Workshop, and more!
KJPAS is delighted to continue our Broadway Master class series which will be led by guest Broadway performers! Last year, our campers had the opportunity to speak with Michael Fatica (Dance Captain for Newsies on Broadway), Amy Justman (currently in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway), Milton Granger (who was the associate conductor of Mary Poppins for six years on Broadway) and many others (you can view the full list by clicking on the “Broadway Masterclass Series” link on the right side bar of the main camp page).
You must choose acting or musical theater as your major course of study. You will then be cast in either acting scenes or musical theatre songs for the final showcase performance. The FREE public performance will take place on Friday, June 16 at
4:00pm at Camp Bethel's Hillside Theater. All campers receive a FREE professional NYC quality full-color headshot, a FREE KJPAS Camp Tee Shirt and a FREE DVD of their camp showcase performance!
New for 2017, KJPAS will be an autonomous entity at Camp Bethel. We will all live together in the air-conditioned Heritage Lodge, complete with en-suite bathrooms. KJPAS will enjoy delicious camp meals in a private dining room at Camp Bethel, and KJPAS will organize all camp activities during the week (including hiking, swimming, and other outdoor experiences). This means that we will be able to provide even more quality theater training for our campers!
Friday, dismissal is at 5pm following our 4pm showcase
Camp Tuition: By May 1 = $600; after May 1 = $650
