Dear Campers and Parents,

With just about everything being cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak, from school musicals to prom and graduation, I want KJPAS to be a light at the end of the tunnel for our campers and potential new campers. So, I would like to announce that our 2020 camps will go forward as scheduled -but with some alterations to keep everyone safe.

First, let me share that although KJPAS has a no-refund policy due to the professional nature of our camps, if I have to cancel the camp due to government mandates, I will offer a full refund. So, please register your child for camp with the confidence that if the camp has to be cancelled, you will not lose your investment.

Here are some of the alterations that we will be making at each of our camps this summer to keep everyone safe (I'm sure that there will be more forthcoming, but here is the initial list of safety precautions):

Residential Camp

  • We normally house our campers in rooms of 6. This summer we will move to just 3 campers per room so that each camper may remain approximately 6' from the other campers. Each camper will have a double bunk bed to him/herself.
  • If we deem that even having 3 campers per room is still not safe enough for our campers, I have made arrangements with the 4H Center to move to a different lodge on the property where our campers will be housed in single rooms.
  • In the dining hall we normally seat 6-8 campers per large round table. This summer we will seat only 4 campers per table so that they may remain several feet apart.
  • Meals are normally served buffet style at the 4H Center. This summer we will opt for one of two options: 1) KJPAS Faculty, wearing gloves, will serve the campers so that no campers touch any of the serving utensils; 2) OR we will serve the meals family style, where we bring the plates to the kids at their table of four.
  • Our camp choreographers will be creatively staging the numbers with non-contact choreography. The numbers will look fantastic and totally unique to all past KJPAS camp showcases!
  • Campers will sit at least 6' apart during all workshops.
  • We will have hand sanitizer and tissues available in all rehearsals and workshops.
  • The campers will be sent to wash their hands before and after each meal, and every rehearsal/workshop.
  • Only KJPAS faculty will touch the door handles at the 4H Center.
  • We will be sanitizing all camp equipment between usage (kayak and canoe paddles, rock wall climbing apparatus, archery equipment, putt putt clubs and balls etc.).
  • If there is still a limit on how many people may congregate in one room at the time of camp, we will be closing the showcase performance to just our campers and faculty. They will still perform a fantastic showcase and we will then make the HD video of the performance available to camper families for FREE.
  • As we will only be able to accommodate 3 campers per room instead of our usual 6, our sell-out limit will be much lower than in past years. If you are interested in coming to camp this summer, I would strongly recommend that you register ASAP before we close off registrations.

Day Camp

  • Our camp choreographers will be creatively staging the numbers with non-contact choreography. The numbers will look fantastic and totally unique to all past KJPAS camp showcases!
  • We will have hand sanitizer and tissues available in all rehearsals and workshops.
  • The campers will be sent to wash their hands before and after each meal, and every rehearsal/workshop.
  • Our campers will be kept at a safe social distance during mealtimes.
  • Campers will sit at least 6' apart during all workshops.
  • Only KJPAS faculty will touch the door handles at our camp facility.
  • If there is still a limit on how many people may congregate in one room at the time of camp, we will be closing the showcase performance to just our campers and faculty. They will still perform a fantastic showcase and we will then make the HD video of the performance available to camper families for FREE.
  • As we will be running our camp with safe social distancing in mind, our sell-out limit will be much lower than in past years. It is our intention to run three separate camps with separate director/choreographers (elementary, middle school, high school) concurrently with just 10 campers in each camp. If you are interested in coming to camp this summer, I would strongly recommend that you register ASAP before we close off registrations.

Sincerely,

Artistic Director
